Immediately change settings with ForceWare while IN GAME (à la ATI Control Panel)?

Any software that will do this? IIRC, RivaTuner didn't seem to work for me either. ATI's control panel on my other PC lets me do this. It's very handy for doing comparisons of different modes. IIRC, restarting the graphics subsystem (like vid_restart in Quake 3-engine games) within the game didn't make the settings take effect either.

nV's settings do take effect immediately. After you click "apply/OK" try closing the driver box before launching the application.

Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I mean change settings from the ForceWare control panel while I'm alt-tabbed out of my game, so I can switch to different AA/AF or whatever and see different settings immediately as I alt-tab back in, or at least do vid_restart without moving my mouse to see the changes in the exact same position...
