I got this 100-pack of imix CD-Rs (80 min/700 MB) for Xmas, but I can't get any to burn properly. My burner is a 40x12x40x (Sony). I've tried burning at 40x, 32x, and 8x... every CD-R has come out unreadable. I'm using Nero 6.0.0.0. Keep in mind that I have been burning CD-Rs (two other, different brands) and they've been coming out fine.

Any idea why these imix discs don't work? Nero doesn't give any errors when burning to them, I just can't read from them afterwards. Are the discs just bad?

If your burner has no problem with other media, then these disks are no good or not compatible with your burner.

If you're using the very first version of Nero 6, you really should get the updates for it. They're fairly big, but you won't need them all. Try uninstalling InCD too, that causes severe problems with our test machine at work when burning CDs for some reason.

Having said that, our testing machine is a lump of donkey poo with a Samsung hard disk that gives 17ms access times (that's with rotational latency subtracted) and a max speed of 35Mb/sec. I digress.

Get the updates and try again. You may also want to try a firmware update for your Sony- www.firmware-flash.com has almost every firmware upgrade ever made :)
