imdb vs rotten tomatoes

I can't relate to professional reviews, so IMDB. Of course, my relation to most of the viewer reviews there are inversely proportional as well...

I will confirm movie choices with IMDB but I mostly rely on MRQE. There are so many good reviewers out there that you should be able to find at least one or two that have similar tastes to your own. Then just read their opinions on movies you are interested in. I like and mostly agree with Berardinelli and Ebert.

I visit RT more, but usually just disregard movie reviews all together. My mind is already made up as to whether or not I am going to go to a certain movie, long before I ever read a review.

Same with games. Reviews are just there so you can see what other people thought of a game or movie that you liked or didn't, IMO.

How is this even a question?

IMDB is better than Rotten Tomatoes in almost any aspect I can think of, hell Yahoo! Movies is better in my opinion too but for some reason the majority of ATOT loves RT and hates Yahoo.

I love IMDB. Sometimes, if I see a familiar looking actor, I'll look him up on IMDB.
"Ohhhh, so that's where I've seen him."

I swear, I visit IMDB on a daily basis. Sometimes several times a day.

To gauge a movie "grade" I use Yahoo Movies. Like RT, it gives a weighted professional reviewer average AND a viewer average-- all with comments.

In this manner, you can adequately gauge how good a movie is from the cerebral pro reviews (though $$ suspect) and the "common sense" moviegoer crowd.

RT is a good supplement to Yahoo movies (though not a replacement). And IMDB is the bible of media info.
