Joburnet:

I was just about to buy the Ricoh Platinums from Compgeeks. They come with sleeves, and their price is pretty good. $26.00 if you buy 4 x 25 packs.

Paper sleeves so no biggie but i'd like to find out the quality of the two brands. Thanks for the input though.

I can't comment on the Ricoh's but I've had nothing but good cd's in all the Imation's I bought. I usually buy Imation always.

both are good. Can't go wrong with either.

But personally, since I have a ricoh drive, I'd get the ricoh's. Otherwise I'd have no bias.

I use TDK discs for everything. I have yet to find something that doesn't recognize them. I've used 100s of them.

Otherwise, I've encountered a lot of Imations as well and never had a problem.

Go with Imation - I have always used them and I love them. Burned around 500+ CDs so far - no problem with them.

I'd be willing to vote for the Ricoh platinum's.
The regular Ricoh's work rock solid for me, in EVERY SINGLE cdrom/cd player/dvd drive/dvd player I could find.
Absolutely not 1 ounce of trouble.
Only bad burns were my old burners fault.

Some Imations are made by Ricoh:

Made in USA: Ricoh, phalatocyanine, dull wide tape on box lid, box a lighter green than usual.

Made in Japan: Taiyo Yuden, cyanine, shiney wide tape on box

Made in Taiwan: CMC Magnetics (cyanine) or Mitsubishi Chemical, narrow wide tape on box

Boxes of 5 can be from any country, but the 10-packs are USA or Taiwan.

What about the 100pk that's at best buy? I guess you can't go wrong, they all look pretty good from what i've read.
