How about this angle.

PM the Imation to CompUSA for 8.00 and be eligible for a $14.00 rebate from OM.
YMMV but it worked so far for me. Everything matches, so now I am sending off the rebate info.

Is anybody else worried that the rebate link states that the ORIGINAL mail-in certificate is requried. In the fine print it also states this ""Neither this certificate nor the UPC barcodes symbol may be re-produced mechanically". Does this mean we cannot print out the rebate form online?

Go to OM and pick up their rebate booklet. It has the "original" rebate form in it. It is also online under the OM rebate center. I don't know why they say that and then post it on their web site - that way you have to reproduce it!

I went by the B&M and picked up my spindle and have already sent out the rebate. Sent the original UPC, rebate receipt and the rebate form from the OM February Rebate Book.

Great price and just what I need. Was running low on blanks.

Wow nice. I was looking for an oppourtunity to price match and use a rebate. My local OfficeMax denied me last week because they said their price is lower after rebate :( ... how can I get them to price match CompUSA??????

Thanks

Hmm... defintely YMMV on this. I am looking at the compusa and OM cds and the OM are 650mb/74m while the CompUSA are 80min. Just a heads up, I'd personally rather have the 700mb cds.

I got them to PM yesterday, although it wasn't easy. They didn't notice the difference in the 64 vs 70 minute deal. In fact that's just the picture. The text from the CU site says 70 minute. What they did quibble over is the 16X vs 24X speed. I found one last 16X on the shelf and that's what the PM'd. The UPC codes are identical on the 16X and 24X.

SafetyDance,

I had the same problems when I tried the PM at OM. I just pointed out that the Imation part number (41182) was the same at Compusa and OM. They relented and did the price match.

Sent in my rebate, made $5 (after tax and postage) on the deal.

My local OM B&M wouldnt PM to CompUSA. They, and the 1-800# both said it had to be another office supply store.

If you can't get your CompUSA to PM (I couldn't), then wait a couple of days,
and get the 100-pk Imation spidle from Staples for $7.94 AR.:)

I was able to get my local OM to PM CompUSA this morning. I just took the print-out from CompUSA's website showing their product for $8.99. The Imation spindle at OM was 24x, 700MB/80Min whereas the CompUSA was 16x, 700MB/80Min, however the cashier barely looked at the CompUSA print-out. I told him I hated dealing with rebates, and would rather pay the extra $1 (I am surprised he didn't ask me why I didn't just go to the CompUSA next door and get it there!). I had talked with someone on the phone the night before at OM, so I was able to say he agreed to do it already. YMMV.
