IMAP keeps refreshing messages as NEW!!!

Ok, so i'm using WinXP and Outlook Express, with an IMAP Mail server.

Whenever i get new mail messages, i read them and they show as read. However, when Outlook checks for new mail messages, it refreshes those i just read as New!! :-(

Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Are you deleting the mail from the servers? It could be downloading them over and over.

ya, make sure that "leave copy of messages on server" is not selected

where is that?

isn't the whole point of IMAP is that the messages will always be on the server? i just want it to realize that i've read it before!
