OK, so I usually use imageshack to host photos. It's just the easiest, most painless way to host photos I've found.

I've used it on several computers & works fine on all. I have this old Duron800 system that I keep around & it's a funny little "tinker" system. Test stuff w/ it, etc. Has a pretty clean install of XP Pro SP2 all updates done, AV, adaware, etc. etc. But.............

When I go to imageshack......it won't do it at the same time everytime, but usually once I select "Browse" to find a photo, my computer hard-reboots. I tested it right now & it let me go a while, & even let me "Browse" and "select" a photo, but then I waited a couple seconds & moved my mouse around like I was faking to hit the "Host it" button &.................****BAM****.............it rebooted.

This has certainly got to be the weirdest thing I've ever seen. I have no clue what's doing this.

????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????

Oh, and to all the asshats out there..........let's just call your post a foregone conclusion already, K? (Don't use imageshack....ha ha ha....yes, fvcking hilarioud....ha ha ha)

First off, Imageshack > bbzzdd and I openly say so in every thead I can since it seems people are brainwashed that bbzzdd is the only free image hosting site out there. Have you tried the Imageshack Quickload program? I love it, you should look into it.

I can't imagine what would be causing it, perhaps the browser is touching some bit of your memory that's bad, and that's causing it? XP does log things, there should be some log of what caused the reboot in the Event Log.

Well, I ran Adaware, Spybot & Spyware Doctor back to back to back.

I'm gonna go over there now & see what happens. If it kills again, somebody mentioned RAM and that is one thing that changed in the last few months. Maybe I'll pull the one stick of RAM & see what happens. ???

I'll post what happens here w/ my first one.

In the meantime if anybody can tell me where to find the log, I'll post that here too.

OK, well I went there & this time I got an error report after browsing for a photo to host for about 10 seconds. I tired to trace the path of the error report, but it wouldn't let me cut & paste & it was a PITA to remember.

WTF...........this one has me scratchin' my head!!

Certain programs like using certain memory addresses, if you're constantly running under that address and then suddenly tap it and it happens to be on a bad stick, I can see it causing a reboot. I've had it happen before, but not when I was using just one program, whenever I was using a lot of memory it'd happen.

Welp, it just rebooted me this time, so I'm gonna pull that stick & see what happens.

I'll report back here in a sec & we'll see if that's the culprit.

(Weird, I tell ya'.........WEIRD!!) <Twilight Zone plays in the background> ;)

there's no brainwashing... imageshack has ads and text and obscure links with no search capability and that's the difference. I have an imageshack account with 14 pages of uploaded images and also use their uploader. It's a nice feature, but I'd still say bbzzdd.com is better for this forum with linkbacks and the search. If bbzzdd.com had a loader, why else would it be worse ? I'm sure bbzzdd.com can be improved since this forum basically made it what it is today.

Sphexi got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It was the freaking RAM.

And here's the best part........................................

It wasn't the cheap-ass, no name, bought it off ebay a bazillion years ago for next to nothin' RAM that has no reason to even still be working to this day......(made in China, of course).........

But it was the bitchin' blue-top EDGE ram that was the culprit. That's the stick I added recently and I've now pulled it & can play on imageshack all day.

Freakin' RAM...............who'da thunk????????

I wonder.........(now that I have this stick of RAM I can't use?).........if I reverse the DIMM sockets they're in, could that bypass this memory address problem?????
