I'm trying to troubleshoot a WinXP system wherein images won't load for some sites, but will for others. Even different images of the same type will sometimes work or sometimes not.
It's consistant from site to site, so one site will work completely, while another will show NO images at all, even when those images are hosted on the same server as the site itself.
An example of a site that works is http://www.sinfest.net/
I can see ALL images at that site, but if I go to http://twolumps.keenspace.com/ I can't see any images at all. It's like the images are THERE, but transparent, since the page space is allocated for them, and I can even right click where the image should be, and get the image properties context menu.
If I right click on the properties of the image 20041227.jpg at the site twolumps.keepspace.com, here's the info I get:
Location: twolumps.keepspace.com/comics/20041227.jpg
Width: 500px
Height: 1123px
Size of File: 1.1KB
Alternate text: Blank
What really confuses me is this: if I was somehow not resolving the host the image is at correctly, I should get that the image is not cached. Additionally, since the web page is visible, and is not cached(I cleared the cache several times), I'm obviously able to transfer data from that host.
I can also see the images at that site just fine from home, or could 2 days ago.
ZoneAlarm Pro is installed on this computer, but I disabled all ad blocking etc. and the problem did not go away.
There's no other privacy software on the computer I can find.
I ran a virus scan and nothing shows up.
The problem in Thunderbird is similar, but images attached(imbedded images) don't show up in e-mails. They appear as red Xs.
Can anyone help me work out what exactly is going on?
