Image tearing during DVD playback on software players?

So, I use my computer to play dvds, because I'm lazy. Anyways, I have noticed that i get tearing issues when I play DVDs. It reminds me of the texture tearing you get in games if you have vsync turned off, but I don't see how that can help me with DVD playback.

Anybody have any ideas?

Is the hardware acceleration turned on in PDVD?

Maybe you need to have PDVD sync the video to your refresh rate. Winamp has that option. I noticed that some videos would tear in Winamp so I enabled that option and it worked.
