Image scanning into excel

Person I work with used to have an add-in for excel that scanned images into a file on his computer, and then put a hyperlink in the excel document that pointed to that image.

I can't find the add-in anywhere. Does anyone know of anything that works similar to this?

When doing bills , he used it to scan the file and have a visual record of it.

I'm stumped!

should be able to do it from the menus i would think
Insert -> picture -> from scanner

that inserts the picture directly into the spreadsheet

the program he had scanned to a file, and then put a hyperlink in the cell that pointed to the file on the hard drive

I'd do it that way but unless I can make the picture represented by some text and show only when its clicked on, then it wont work

Why can't he just hyperlink to the location on the drive where the picture is saved?

Thats basically what the plugin did, but instead of having to scan the file in a seperate program, save it and then go into excel and put in the hyperlink, you just hit the 'scan' button and it does it all in 1 click. much easier.
