I just picked up a refurbished IBM P260 and noticed that after aligning the screen it will shift/rotate after being turned off or sitting idle for a while. Does anyone know what could cause this? The movements aren't drastic, but it is noticeable.

it IS a refurbished monitor after all... not sure what it could be make sure you have current drivers as a general rule but i try to stay away from refurbished stuff as a rule because there is usually a reason someone didnt want it.

Even the manufacturers of the highest quality monitors suggest that you let the unit warm up for 30 minutes before doing any adjusting. if you follow this advice and the image still shifts around after the power has been on for some time, you have a voltage regulation problem in the monitor.

Well I let it warm up for an hour last night and then made adjustments to get it straightened out and then set the power save mode to turn it off after 45 minutes. When I woke up this morning it had shifted or shrunk a few mm on the left hand side of the screen and also along the top. However, during the 20 or so minutes I used it, it gradually seemed to be correcting itself. When I left, it was still somewhat out of line but not nearly as bad. Also, I noticed the lower left hand corner of the screen vibrating faintly.

This is why I don't purchase refurb stuff. I am not an expert on monitor repair but I think you pretty much have two options. First would be to try to return it, either in exchange for another and hope its better or just get your money back. Other then that you can try to take it to a monitor repair shop. That can usually get pricey though. Best of luck.

Alright, here is a new development. As I said, the image shifts if it has been turned off for a while and there is jittering along the lower edge. Well, apparently that jittering is the monitor shifting back the image to the original orientation since after I turn it back on, it corrects itself after 10-15 minutes.
