Image (JPG) comparison software?

I've been taking pictures with my Canon S110 for a few years now and I pretty much quit sorting them. I used to just copy them all into one folder - but one day I found out I was overwriting different images that had the same names as the first ones.

Is there a piece of software that lets me compare all images of the same name and have them automatically changed if they're different?

ie: If I have pic001.jpg and pic001.jpg in two separate directories and they are different images, but copy them into the same directory, the program will automatically rename the 2nd one instead of overwriting the first..

Might as well rename the files in one folder first. For starters...

ya.. but then I'd get stuck with 100's of duplicates of the same images..

doesn't acdsee32 do comparisons and stop to wait for your command on what to do with a little thumbnail of both images ?
