My first thought was Dances With Wolves, but I would have recognized that. Started trying to think of "mountain" movies vs. "westerns" and LOTF was the first thing I thought of. Next guess would have been The Claim, which I haven't even seen.

I knew it was Legends of the fall right off the bat, though I don't recall that particular scene. That movie won an Oscar for cinematography. The landscape footage was amazing.
