"iMac" style SFF or barebone? Anyone ever make an "all in one" computer?

I like the idea of the Apple iMac... I'd get one if it didn't have a weak video card and a crazy high price. What I'd really like to do is make my own "all in one" computer. Anyone have any experience with this?

i've never seen anything on the pc side that looks like an iMac. i'm guessing you might have to have some kind of custom case built and maybe use some laptop parts

Dell had something last year at computer show and they was selling it at the time, but I dont see it on thier site any more. IT came out at the asme time they improved thie 10-12 laptop.

Sony had something to but not sure if they still sell it. VAIO PCV-P101

they got some stuff that is similar but maybe not exactly what you want.

I'd agree that to most people it'd be impractical... but for someone who goes to LAN parties a lot, it'd be even better than a laptop in my opinion. I have a gaming laptop now and i wish I could go back and get a SFF or something else. An "all-in-one" style computer with a PCI-E slot would be perfect.

I'll keep looking around I guess 🙂

I was looking at this.
Looks like a Mac Mini, not an iMac.

OP: I haven't seen anything like this, but I'm curious too (not that I'd do it, but I'd like to see pictures).

Seems kind of impractical to me.

Sorry it was early morning and I didn't read the it very well.

The problem with wanting faster video performance out of an iMac-style case is that the cooling requirements are pretty strict. That said, Apple gives the option of a GeForce 7600 GT in the 24" iMac when you order online, which makes it a respectable gaming rig if you're not sitting on the bleeding edge. Not that you could fit a GeForce 8800 or an X1950 inside anything that thin.

For that matter, you're probably not looking in the right field if you want an all-in-one but also want extreme performance. I love my iMac because it takes up little space, it's quiet, and it looks like it belongs in the future.
