Using the latest Time Capsule, using the exact same LAN cable (gigabit) my mid-2009 MacBook Pro is doubling my mid-2010 iMac speeds, at least for downloads. Does my iMac just have more overhead and stuff running, or might there other reasons for this?

Negatory. These are download speeds from a server in Macau (I live in HK). I just got upgraded to '1G fiber' connection (link)

I kind of hate you a little bit now, not gonna lie.

Have you tried testing local network speeds? Changing ports on the router? Looking to see if the network settings on the iMac are different in anyway?

Computer specs?
What OS?
Exact same network settings?
Any firewall settings?

A lot of networking speed issues arise from HD performance.

13" MacBook Pro - 2.26GHz & 8GB RAM http://support.apple.com/kb/SP541. Put in an aftermarket 500GB 7200rpm HD.

21.5" iMac - 3.06GHz & 12GB RAM http://support.apple.com/kb/SP588

Both are on 10.7.1. I don't think I've altered the network settings too much, anything in particular I should be looking for? On the iMac I have Hands Off installed (Little Snitch type firewall program). Disabled it, ran another test but it had little effect. MacBook Pro has Little Snitch installed.

You'll probably hate me even more if I told you how much I am paying per month ():)

No, haven't thought about doing this. How would I go about doing this?

Technically, they are both 500GB 7200RPM drives (though not exactly the same make/model of course) so we can probably out the HD? Unless it has to do with the SATA interface or something...
