I have an older Imac with a 2.33ghz cpu, 7600gt, 3gb of ram. Currently I have a 1TB black drive in there I do have a 300gb velociraptor laying around I was wondering would that help it any or no noticeable difference? I currently have windows vista installed but I am looking to change over to windows 7. It doesn't have a specific task just a general computer running quicken and quickbooks.

The opening it up doesnt bother me as I have done it to get the 1TB black in there. Thanks for any opinions.

Looking at the HDD benchmarks on Tom's Hardware, there's not that much of a difference between the Velociraptors and standard 7200rpm SATA drives. I doubt you'll see a real noticeable difference in boot and app loading times.

If you really want to speed it up, SSD is the only way to go. They're about 4x faster than the Velociraptor.

Ok thank you. I guess with it's age it's not worth spending extra money just to do that part of it.
