Daughter is asking me (PC guy) about purchase of 21.5" iMAC all-in-one. Which options to get?
I recommend the $200 i5 cpu upgrade from i3 which also upgrades the HDD from 500GB to 1TB.
For another $200, memory can be increased to 8GB, but Im saying that for what they do (mostly internet video streaming), 4GB is sufficient, but if needed, 4GB increase could be added later.
From time to time they may need to run PC emulation, but that should not be heavy duty (eg, to read & print a file).
Frankly, if it were for me, I would just get the stock 500GB/i3 w/4GB RAM and worry about the software. Anyway, how important is having 8GB RAM and in this type of proprietary product, how easy is it to add memory (can this be done oneself?).
PS: Sounds like iMAC contains 4 RAM slots, 2X2 DDR3 for 4GB & lists 4X2 for 8GB.
Thanks in advance.
