Have an old imac where the screen is doing the going black, or flickering but comes back. Took to the apple store, its out of warranty, obviously and not in the recalled serial number.
They want about 550 to replace the video card and the screen.
I think the screen should be okay, sometimes it stays on for hours before it starts to flicker.
I google but didn't find any confirmation, could it be LCD driver ? aka back light (I think) or the video card.
Which should I try first ? probably want to try to fix it myself.
