I'm wondering, how are AOC monitors? (19" Flat-Screen 9KLR and 19" Non-Flat 9GLR shadow mask monitors)

How are they compared to, say, the Viewsonics or Samsungs? Are they any good at all?

AOC is made by Envision, one of the three largest monitor makers in the world. They make a large bulk of the monitors you find labeled as Compaq or Gateway in OEM systems.

I have used a lot of AOC monitors and found them excellent value for the dollar. Their quality is not quite as good as Samsung or Viewsonic, though. I recommend the AOC 9GLRs, a 19" short-neck .25 Panasonic tube which can be found for $175 on Pricewatch. It's though to find something that good for less money.

Thanks for the replies. I'm also wondering why they're priced so low, ie half of a Samsung 955DF here.

Any more ideas?

The company I used to work for sold them. As far as monitors go, there are better ones out there. I wouldn't buy one for myself. If I want to go cheap, and still get decent quality I'd buy a Viewsonic or Optiquest. Samsung makes very nice reasonably priced monitors.
