I'm using windows 7 rc, and pre-ordered the 49.99 windows 7--> Will it work?

I'm running Windows 7 Release Candidate and ordered the $49.99 from best buy. I heard that that reduced price upgrade was only for users with vista (or maybe xp too, doesn't matter) which i've never had. Is this true or will the version that I ordered work when I install it? If it won't can anyone show me how to cancel an order on best buy 😉? Why would it not work?😕

It will work. It won't install over the RC though, it will do a clean install.

Apparently Microsoft is allowing this because so many people have the RC installed.

I think that is the whole point.

Microsoft may have offered cheap upgrade and valid first activation from RC1 to create a lot of positive buzz upon initial release (?)

Not much information on this. One thing that seems apparent, though, is that MS is talking "a GENUINE copy of XP, Vista, etc. must be found". It's apparent that does NOT mean "an ACTIVATED copy...". It just means the copy must pass WGA, which is different than Activation.

Just to confuse things, the pre-order deal in Europe is the full package. We're paying more though (£49.99) and there isn't going to be an upgrade version at all here.
