All these law suits are getting out of hand, but where do you draw the line? Is it even possible?

I'm only surprised this hasn't happened earlier. I remember all sorts of tightly wound kids like that at my school.

It is only a matter of time before legislation is passed to prevent frivilous lawsuits. The lawyers know this.

This is the kind of kid who'd kill himself if he wasn't valedictorian...I say don't prolong the suffering and get it over with!

Stupid Lawsuit I agree, but how are you supposed to get an A+? If you do everything your told to do 100% then you deserve an A+. He is going for valedictorian, which is a big deal. Why can't the school just give him what he deserves? Geez. Although I don't think kids who take "screw-off" classes like him deserve to be Valedictorian.

IMO A+ means you went beyond the just doing the required work.

Since when does doing just the required work means you get an A+?

Exactly. What happened to C meaning "Average," B meaning "Above Average" and A meaning "Exceptional?"
I graduated HS in 1997. I was an A/B student. I was not a straight-A student. They told me I was an above-average student, and my grades seemed to reflect this accurately.
Now everyone seems to think everyone should get As. We have screwed up somewhere....

In other news, there was a girl in my high school who was like this. She'd push her grandmother down a flight of steps if it gave her another tenth of a point. I used to joke with her that she could give me 5 points and we'd both have an A then.

I graduated 14th in my class of about 160. She graduated 1st. We went to the same state college and received the same amount in merit-based scholarship money.

So what was the point of all that fighting to be #1?

The girl who graduated #2 really burned her up. That girl really was brilliant....biggest slacker next to me, yet she always pulled straight As. She never bothered to fight for that tenth of a point.

She got a pretty hefty scholarship to MIT. :)
