if you can't spend that on an entire season of hilarity, then don't drink beer for a night or two. Save the cash and buy the Simpsons.

I have Season 1,2, & 3....classic.

which one is your favorite?

Probably 2 or 3. Season 1 has the old school characters/animation, so all the characters look different than today's episodes...just feels weird watching them, but still funny as hell.

If your not big on getting the entire collection, you would be fine starting off with season 3.

Yeah... season 2 was just "OK"
Season 3 was when the gold started to shine through.
Season 3-5 or 3-6 was the true comedy goldmine.

buy family guy instead

What he said

Honestly, I'd love to say that... but think of the inspiration that Family Guy had: an animated series in it's prime comedy years that had proven that vulgar comedy could be funny to mainstream audiences.

Family Guy just went above and beyond the Simpsons.

South Park went above and beyond what Family Guy did.

All this proves is that people like toilet humor (I love it, I watch all 3 shows :D)

All three of them are hilarious though, and I must say that season 3-6 of the Simpsons will stand up to the Family Guy episodes (yes they both had their "bad" episodes.

I'm hugely disappointed with the Simpson's set. They are the edited for syndication versions, NOT the versions that originally aired.

How do I know? The episode "Bart the Daredevil" has half the homer falling in the canyon gag edited out. They stop it after his second plummet into the canyon. In the original, the gurney falls on his head just as the skateboard did in the first fall. In the syndicated version, they cut that out. Why? I don't know. But it kills the skit.

I know, that sucks! I had probably never laughed harder in my life on the night that first aired. That's not something easily forgotten. I had expected the full version on the DVD, and I was so disappointed when I saw that it wasn't. That episode was in the second season set. I did buy the third season set none the less, because I still enjoy the series, and I enjoy the listening to commentary tracks.

I remember it well. I had it recorded on VHS and used to play that scene for friends all the time. So I've seen it hundreds of times. Sadly, the tape wore out a few years ago and I lost it. I was shocked to see the syndicated version on TV and had very high hopes for the DVD set.

What a disappointment. :( I fear the full skit is lost forever.

BTW, it also appears that they edited some of the second fall into the canyon as well. In the original he hit the canyon wall many more times.

I think it was edited because of too much violence. Not that I agree with that assessment, but it's the only thing I can think of.
