kinda sick of IT. can I become a nurse with just an LPN from a comminity college? the sight of blood sickens me and i dont want to clean old people. can nurses do other things that doesnt include these? any male nurses here? do you get harassed often?

Before the 'snobs' come in here and say it: LPN =/= 'full nurse'. RN is.

And never, ever, ever go into healthcare for money. Never.

You don't need to go into the medical field to have a legal excuse for fingering random peoples asses. I'm sure there are several members here that will be more than willing.

no Quintox. i appreciate the advice. i am seriously considering it. what is the shortest amount of time to complete an LPN? there is money and stability in health care right now.

I wasn't beating you down, I just wasn't sure if this was a 'joke' thread or not. Hey, it's ATOT, you can't blame a guy for doubting. I still stand by my first post regardless.

LPN is a nurse...but they are getting phased out. My wife is finishing her second year of nursing school, she got her LPN after the first year (she took a year off after having our son).

In her first year she got to work at a couple nursing homes dealing with old folks. Plenty of blood too, she got to watch some surgeries, treat wounds. Can't stand the sight of blood--find a different profession.

Look into radiology tech seriously.

There really is not much you can do as a LVN that is not going to have you regularly deal with blood and wiping adult's bottoms. Get a full RN and 10 years experience and you can take a job with an insurance company answering questions and filling out reports, for less money then you would get working in a doctors office giving flu shots all day.

Being a nurse requires taking responsibility for yourself and your actions.

You are consistently demonstrating that such is beyond your capabilities.

<---Nurse for ~30 years, we don't need or want someone with your attitude in the profession.

If you like the idea of 10 different women literally being your boss and expecting you to do the nasty scut work of health care, then by all means be an LPN, and polish up your ass wiping skills while you're at it. Someone has to wipe those asses, and it's going to be you, Mr LPN, trust me...

being a mod requires an unbiased view of topics, restraint from taking sides, and the ability to create an atmosphere conducive to active and fair participation by everyone without condescending on people for their opinions. you have never portrayed any of these traits, either here or in P&N.

You are consistently demonstrating that such is beyond your capabilities.

What do you know of me outside of these forums? grow a life.
