I'm thinking "new card".

Where can I see ATI/3dMark05 benches?
I'm thinking about a new card, was going to go sli 6600gt's, but would really like to stick with agp in an ati so I don't have to change my board/cpu.
I've got an ATI 9800 Pro and could flash it to XT.
Is it a waste of my time to upgrade right now?
What's the "worthwhile" upgrade?
I'm figuring a budget around 300 bucks.

Have you clicked the Video tab at the top of the page?

SLI is pointless unless it's 7800GTXs for "look I'm teh stupid" bragging rights.

6800GT is the best AGP card right now. It should offer excellent performance at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 for the next couple of years.

If you "need" to game at 1600x1200 then you need a single or SLI 7800GTX, PCI-E, A64 3700 - 4000, etc.

I have read until I'm blue in the face.
I wanted some "real life" suggestions before I pull the trigger.

The only reason I was thinking sli is that I've never built an sli rig and my 3DMark05 benches should double.
I don't know what the 6800GT or X800XTPE would do in agp.

well, they dont double in sli. up to 80%. most big games support it up to a point, but sli will never be better than a good single card unless you need more performance than deliverable by a single top of the line card.

My bad.
I should have said "doubled from my current config".
9800pro/3200newcastle/asus k8vsedx/1gb corsair.
I get less than 3000 in 3dmark05.
benches

Probably 6800GT for $300. 2x6600GTs score 6100 or so in 3dmark05 but 6800GT is for the most part faster. Plus not all games support SLI.

6800GT vs. x800xl
Also you cant get SLI on an AGP board. this means a new motherboard and possibly cpu for you.
