I'm thinking about going to the Phillippines and Hong Kong...

I have to make a decision by tomorrow.... i'd be going with my parents to visit my step mom's family. My dad wants me to pay for $900 of my flight and then he'll cover the rest of the trip once we're there. I've never been there before and think that this will be a great experience. So, should i go and pay the $900 or do you think that i should save my money?

I'd go unless you're planning on visiting the southern Philippines (Mindinao) -- bad stuff down there. If you're dive certified, you could have an awesome time because the PI has some of the best diving in the world from what I understand. I've never been for any reason (and probably never will while I'm stationed here because there are travel restrictions for military right now), but I know plenty of people that have or are from there. Plus, if you're going with local connections like that, you're bound to see things you wouldn't see as a plain old tourist.

I've heard great things about Hong Kong as well, but I've never been. People like to go shopping there.

Go! Take pictures!

It is always good to go somewhere you have never been
Just go vist the rest of the world, got nothing to lose
It is always good to take a break..I don't see a reason why not

The Phil has excellent beaches (Boracay-touristy, Palawan, cebu ect.)

Metro Manila is great place to go to lots of bars and clubs, just stay away from seedy joints.

The best part of the Phil is everything is so cheap and the food and restaurants are great.
exchange rate now I believe is 50:1. so the dollar really stretches.

Honkong was known for its shopping in the past but I dont know if it still is since China took over.

good luck

Definitely go. All expenses paid after $900 is worthwhile. The flight there will suck though... I think it was about 13 hours+. Ugh.

Hey, Thanks for your help... i think i'm going to go.. The trip will be in January... i'm getting excited already! I can't wait to check out all the sweet clubs there 😉
