TM is a great and reliable brand.

However, don't toss out CA - they have some quality guns too

I would definitely go to airsoftextreme.com to order it -- they have kickass service, and they are the best US retailer.

The Echo M4A1 seems to be getting outstanding reviews from many people. It hasn't been around long enough to figure out whether or not they'll last long or not, so I might wait on this purchase until the summer because I'll be going away to the Philippines this summer too and apparently Airsoft is big there. I'm also going to California, and it's pretty big there as well.

Sorry to bump this, but...

True, the parts are metal. However, TM parts are durable, high-impact ABS while CA stock metal bodies (not metal body kits, those are made completely different) are poured from sh!tmetal of the lowest quality possible. Its about as light as aluminum and about as sturdy as cheap plastic. At least, that's how their guns were a few years ago, maybe they've changed, but I doubt it.

BTW maul.. blame whomever you bought your CAs from on their defects..
Ive had way way more luck with my CAs and mine have been through Irene and many other statewide ops.

I got it from Airsoft Extreme, and my friend got his from someone else, also accredited, and both guns are permanently out of service, and have been since the first few rounds they tried to pop.

as for TMs being sturdy.. lol... give me a full metal CA any day of the week including metal gears.

Yes, yes, they're metal, sure...but have you ever torn down a CA gun and a TM gun of the same model and compared the build quality? The CA gearbox is a mass of metal and plastic parts that fit together like a rocket duct-taped to a Ford Pinto. The TM, on the other hand, is perfectly crafted with essentially no room for the parts to undesirably shift or wobble; if you must have metal gears or a metal gun, you have to buy a TM and get the metal gears and body from a third party. There is just no comparison. And go check out the specs... How does a fully metal M4 from CA weigh LESS than a "flimsy" plastic TM? Something's going on. ;)

damn! and he's still your friend?

Well, I don't really see him much these days, but the reason he did it was because I shot him in the balls (he with his own gun, nonetheless), so I guess it was sorta kinda my fault. :D

Didn't you learn anything from this thread? Get a Marui, dammit.:p

Spring rifles are only good if you are 100% sure of being the scout sniper in the group. Otherwise, you will get raped in any firefights.....

On that note, does anyone know a good place to buy a TM AEP that's not the glock or the 93R? I have the Tanaka Kar98 and need a good backup that's not gas.

I'll probably buy both an AEG and a Sniper, but as of now it seems like I'm going to be the sniper.
