Zebo's 9 steps to surfire success for salesmen.

1. learn to love to lie for the $
2. Your product whatever it is is the best product period in it's catagory.
3. Make the customer hear you out, i.e. don't tell price until you are done with presentation.
4. Make appeals/emphasis on luxurious or superior lifestyle you product will provide.
5. No pitfalls with whatever your product is
6. Claim to do lots of deals to the most succesful people
7. Gorgeous package both you and product.
8. Use "perfect offer" "painless" "win/win" "success" "trademark" and "patented" in every paragraph during presentation.
9. Cite professed religiousness as a selling point to religious buyers.

This has got to be the dumbest perception of a sales career out there.

I have been in sales for a number of years and as few already pointed out, be prepared for a lot of stress. You'll have a lot of quotas and deadlines, plus be prepared to spend a lot of time on the phone making "cold" calls.

That being said, the job can have a lot of benefits. Depending on your status you may be given a lot of opportunities for initiative and advancement. Sales is one of very few careers were it becomes obvious fairly soon whether you're cut out for the job.

In todays economy, take what you can get... but I personally would not try to forge a career in sales, but thats just me.... 🙂

Why? Not If you follow Zebo's 9 steps to surfire success for salesmen.

Quotas schmotas.. Only loosers and dream stealers worry about those. Winners exceed them and become sales managers after the first year.

If you have ever done sales, you havent done too well.

gecko, the thing about being a comissioned salesman is that its a yearly job. You are going to have months where you dont make squat, and others that you do really well. If you do take this job, go in with a good six months living expenses saved up. You are going to be the FNG, and your coworkers will most likely see you as someone taking away their sales until you prove your worth. It will take you time to learn the ins and outs of cellular. Two weeks is not a lot of time to do that.

As for whether or not you should make the change...sure, why the hell not?

Here's rudeguy's sales secret: Its easier to sell to a friend than a customer. In other words, get to know the person who will be making the decision on whether or not to buy. Take them out to lunch away from their comfort zone. Ask questions that dont have anything to do with work. Find out how many kids they have, what they do on the weekends, and that kind of thing. Once you get them to see you as a friend, instead of some random salesman, then your job will get a lot easier.
