i dont get it... i see these ipod interfaces/adapters that run for like $100+... isn't it cheaper to just get a new deck that has a front aux input? what am i missing here?

for example... why would i pay more for this http://www.theistore.com/ipod2car.html ?

only reason i can think of is that if you already have some really expensive deck that's like $200+...

I don't know why having aux-in using rca or phono or some plugin type isn't standard anyway. C'mon it's the 2006 already, is it that much of a problem to have line-in?

You already have an MP3 playing deck, are worried about saving money, yet want to spend more. What am i missing here?

Oh yeah, might as well lose the FM radio while adding the input (being 2006 and all). Nobody seems to care if their MP3 player has one. Of course, at one time, those same people didn't sseem to care if their MP3 player even had a screen!

i'm tired of burning cds where i can only fit like 500 songs... i want to use my ipod... in the long run, i'll save money because i dont have to use cds anymore (after 30 years or so)

You can find Aiwa CD players on ebay for less than $70, and they have front AUX inputs. I used to have one and it was surprisingly decent for the price.

  1. Yep, at ten cents each, he'll break even on that purchase after about 700 CDs...

I'd rather plug in my Ipod (if I had one) then fumble between CDs, and have to scroll through song after song.

If your head unit can control a cd changer, you can likely find a cable that can plug directly into that as an aux input.

With the Aux input, you have to control the music via the ipod, very distractiing. With the adapter you can control it from the deck, and sort by all sorts of options, genre, artist, album, playlist, etc.... MUCH MUCH MORE convinient.
