Im taking AP computer science, next year.

If you actually know C and VB already, then an intro high-school level CS couse will be easy and boring, you won't need to do any preparation.

what is the course syllabus? it is probably easy cheesy stuff and you'll be able to sleep and get an A

sorry i edited it! 😉

You say you know C and VB. How much do you know? I hear that all the time from freshman entering CS in college. They end up failing the intro class and changing majors when I TA'ed it.

Computer Science uses JAVA<-- I know lame, why not something useful like VB, C++, or php with mysql integration. Anyway, it focuses around an applet that you can get free online called the Marine Science Biology Case Study (or something like that). Basically, you have to figure out what the different classes do and how they integrate with the main app and such.

yay!

what is the question?

what can i do to prepare for the class, the prerequsites (sorry i know that a mis spell)
are java game programing and computer applications

i was told by the teacher that since i have such a big bakround i would not have to talk those classes, but he said it would be much harder then taking it after java game programming

Not neccessarily. Do you know what Design Patterns are?

VB6 is not OOP. Neither is VB.NET, not totally that is. Microsoft takes a different approach to OOP than the standard.

Useful like VB!?!??! huh?? And PHP? I dont think VB is worth anything in the corporate world. Java is getting much more popular and would be much more beneficial than either VB/PHP (C++ would probably be just as useful).

I dont think you are very 'versed' in the corporate world.

I worked for 2 companies over my work term and both were designing applications for companies and most the applications they used were based on VB. On was the federal government. In fact, out of the 5 programmers they had, only 1 of them knew c in depth. All of them were very skilled in VB.

You don't need any preparation for AP Computer Science anyway. I took it last year, and it definitely wasn't a hard course, even being my first experience with any programming at all.

Well, for starters you can learn to spell 😀

With that said, as others have mentioned, it'd be good if you learn something about design patterns and Object Oriented Programming. If you know C then Java will be a walk in the park.

Regards

If you're taking the A class, don't even bother.

If you're taking AB, just browse through the Marine Biology Case Study they concentrate on.

If you want to own it, start learning Java. Go to the bookstore/library, find a decent book (You'll want it to cover Java '5' or '1.5'), and you can download the JDK here.

hey has anyone taken this class before?
i'm considering taking it and i wanna know if it is hard (i don't know anything about programming)
