i'm help fixing a friend computer. It a old HP pavilion 310n. I did a fresh format/win2k install. But it show up as a dual boot now.
1. How do i get rid of the dual boot screen

2. i toggle around with the users. how do i get the computer to save a user profile so that i don't have to type the name at the log-in screen every restart.

thanks

1. Open up the C:\boot.ini file in Notepad and remove the second line under [operating systems]. More instructions.

2. Download TweakUI. It should allow you to setup one user to auto-login.

Momentary fix, but you didn't properly format/install if you received a dual-boot message.

Anyway, you'll probably never see this...

work!!! thanks

An easier way is to right click on MY COMPUTER>Properties>Click the ADVANCED Tab> Then Click on Startup and Recovery>then look for something called: Display List of operating systems and set it to 0 or 1 if you like.> then choose windows 2000 professional as your defauly os.

If you need to boot to the second os for an emergency reason then during the boot process you press F8 (before the colourful windows logo appears) and you will be given some options.
