Actually 2 problems:
1) I upgraded the linksys WRT54gs firmware to Satori 4 in hopes of taking advantage of getting fixed IPs
assigned to the 5 computers on my home network (4 wired, 1 wireless).
I thought that this firmware would allow DHCP to automatically assign IPs via their MAC's, which it
still might, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that. I have been to dslreports forums, linksysinfo.org and other sites, read the sveasoft guides ,googled it. I think its done via the DHCPd submenu of the Management tab, but I need the walkthru guide (spelled n-o-o-b) of how its done.
2) I had my DSL provider (Broadlink, a wireless antennae DSL) change my service to bypass their
firewall so that I could use the Linksys WRT54gs firewall and be able to port forward thru it as need be.
So despite checking twice w/ them that I was bridged past their FW and trying to portforward w/ or w/o
the router FW up and even setting up my pc as a DMZ essentially all ports are closed or stealthed
when checking w/ grc.com or pcflank.com. I am portforwarding to the ip of the individual pc as
assigned by DHCP (e.g. 192.168.1.101). I am running winXP sp2 and the XP FW is turned off. There is
no software FW installed. I am lost on this one too.
