I'm still using Windows 98SE....what am I missing?

I tried Window ME for a while and went back to 98SE.

I have Win 2000 Pro but have not tried it.

My new system is:

MSI KT3 Ultra
AMD XP 1800
512 Kingston DDR3300
Geforce 2, 64mb

I'm not a hard core gamer and want stability more than anything.

What do ya think?

Dan

A "dual system" ?

You mean a dual booting system with another operating system on the same hard drive (Partition Magic)

What about Windows XP pro? Will that offer me advantages over 2000 pro?

Thanks,

Dan

I meant a system with 2 processors. I'd go ahead and get XP Pro if you have to pay either way. I have XP home, and might get XP pro one day, to take advantage of my dual setup.

Your frontal lobes? You have no doubt read hundreds of posts by folks in favor of this OS in the two years since you joined this board. D'you think they were all faking it?

Stability
Compatibility
Ease of hardware installation
Memory Management
Networking
Security

all vastly improved over 98

what ARE you waiting for?

You are missing:

Wondering how long your computer could run without a re-boot 2000/XP will go, and just keep on going, or re-installs every 6 months or so because your system is "starting to act flakey". (clutter in the registry)

Telling stories about how you were PwnZing the entire server, but when you tried to get a screenie, your computer locked up. 2000/XP make that a rareity. (and those yeahhhhh, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight reactions when you have no proof) 😀

Wishing your CD wasn't ruined because some other app. crashed during the burn. 2000/XP don't usually crash when an application fails.

That sigh of relief when you can simply roll back a driver to the previous version you used. Or an even bigger sigh when System Restore saves you from that experiment that went so terribly wrong!

Well anyway, you get my drift 😎
