I'm starting to believe there's no point in signaling to change lanes...

seems like almost every time i try to change into a lane with a pretty big gap and signal, the car in the other lane behind me starts speeding up like mad and doesn't want me to get in front of him...

After driving in traffic every day (both morning and afternoon), I just have about had it with using a car as transportation to work. I can't wait till this summer is over and I just have to walk across campus to get to school.

Driving sucks.

I only use signals where it may affect other traffic. Using signals in the middle of the night on a highway when you're by yourself is retarded.

You could just do what most of the people in the East Bay area here do....Signal to change lanes and then about 1 second after you signal, just start changing lanes regardless of who or what is beside you, after all you have your signal on so people should move for you right?....I've had the worst luck with asian women age 30-60 doing this to me. (not to be racist, I'm strictly speaking from personal experience).

I gave up driving to work when I began to notice that it was affecting my sanity (after only 6 months :(). I now live 3/4 miles from work and walk.

Drive a bigger car.

I ALWAYS use my turn signal unless there's absolutely no one around.

Turn signal = "HELLO I AM GOING TO TURN OR CHANGE LANES NOW"

It does NOT mean "Excuse me, may I cut in front of you? If not, go ahead and speed up to let me know"

Assholes who speed up to not let me change lanes usually end up getting VERY close to kissing my tailpipe when I get into their lane. I have no tolerance for people who don't understand that my turn signal is an intent of action, not request for permission.

Actually, it's asking to change lanes. If you change lanes, hit another car, and go to court over it, you'll be the sorry one because the judge will throw it in your face that you're an idiot for changing lanes when there was a car there. It's not a right to change lanes; it's "notification" if you want to call it that. Then the other drivers can either do nothing and let you squeeze in, back off to give you room, or speed up to be assholes.

I like to speed up.

;) :p

The appearance of your car? It probably has other things to do with it. When you change lanes, do you speed up? You're supposed to slightly increase speed when changing lanes. If you slow down, the other driver might think that you don't see him (read: are an idiot) and speed up so that you'll see him and be penalized for being an idiot by not being able to change lanes.

::sigh:: What's almost as bad is the nimrods who signal for a split second before changing lanes in front of me. Thanks, that really helps ensure that I'm not going to be giving you an enema with my car. A few seconds warning would help, but nooooo... :|

If you rear end me it's your fault in CA. :D

Plus chances are unless you're driving something bigger than a 3/8 ton truck I'm not going to feel a damn thing and you'll have to deal with major front end issues.

I had an Explorer run a red light and rear end my truck at ~10mph and I had a scratch on my bumper. She screwed up her whole front end, about $2K in damage.

No point in signalling when there are no cars in your way or within 100 feet, yes. If there is traffic and you are weaving through cars without signalling, that is bad.

Nice. But with the way my truck accelerates now, I'd likely hit your quarter panel instead. Granted you'd probably fvck up my truck, but you'd be paying. And I'd be virtually crying because of the work I put into her. :(

lol right on. If I were in your car, I would be laughing at the situation. Sorry that you have to be the guy trying to get over, but in those situations, I just think it's funny. :p

I still use the signal, even though it has pretty much become useless. It's gotten to the point where I usually hit the gas when I merge into the slow lane, just the keep other jerks over there from cutting me off and making me miss my exit. :disgust:

yeah they make it so obvious that they don't want me to change lane that it somehow ends up looking like a race...

i hate the people who DONT signal to change lanes. especially when making a right turn onto a street and there are oncoming vehicles. one person decides he wants to make a turn and doesnt signal, so you wait. by the time you find out hes starting to make the turn, its too late to go out. so keep on signalling, people appreciate it.

i don't understand why you speed up, just to prevent one car from getting over?!?! it's not like they slow you down that much unless they're idiot drivers(a lot, well that MIGHT explain the reason)....if you signal i let you over, if you don't signal and i have a chance to block you i will....blinkers are installed standard in every car for a reason

Been driving long? This happens every day here...jerkoff is in a rush to pass, then pulls back over and decideds to prod along. Just as bad as the idiots that will pull out in front of you from a side street (when there was nobody behind you) then don't even make an effort to speed up. As if to say "I'm more important than YOU"
