I guess that sucks, sorta. I know I didn't pay for the 286-16 we had when I was 15. Bought the 2400 bps phone modem myself though!

I'm going to see how much this cost them.

You are one spoiled 15 year old! Yeah, show your parents how much they suck!!!:|:|
If you were my kid, I'd send the computer back and tell you to save your money for a car because I won't be buying you sh!t from now on.

STFU or leave home (to save your parents some grief) :disgust:

Rofl. Your pissed because your parents didn't buy you the computer you wanted? You're in for a rude awakening when one day you'll have to buy your own stuff.

So, how about you get out of high school, go to college, get a job, and save up money to build your own computer?

Gateway most likely has a 30-day return policy like dell. THe most you'd lose is shipping.

Return it. Return it now. (with their consent)

Wow, you got your panties in a wad over that?

Wait until you grow up...you'll look back on this and go WTF was I thinking?

Edit-Just get a decent video card and that rig will rock with HL2.

The first half of the post doesnt make him sound like a whiney kid, it makes him sound like a semi-educated computer geek who was pissed that his parents did this behind his back when they KNEW he wanted to build one, and knew way more than them about tech.

Silly people....

My son has an IBM netvista P3 1000 that I purchased used for $152 shipped.

He was THRILLED to have a replacement for the P11 350 system that he had been running.

I will add that we have a superfast broadband connection and that he also has an Xbox
for his games

I have to agree. Spoiled, whiny kids irritate me as much as the next person ;) but I think he had a valid point.

Wow, you're my age (15 years old) and I have to say, that I really feel for you...

I mean, we have a crappy family computer (5 year old HP with a 600MHz Celeron and 10GB HDD), but my parents got me a nice laptop two years ago and I just built my own desktop a few months ago. ( http://www.anandtech.com/myanandtech.aspx?member=153384 )

Did you just get this recently? Explain the situation to your parents and see if you can return it ... it will cost you shipping, but in the long run, it would be worth it

My first computer was a Celeron 500A with 64mb of shared ram with a video card that not only couldnt be added (PCI only might I add), my buddy and I could NOT for the life of us get the ATI Xpert to run on it with windows 2000.

now your complaining about this prebuilt system, because you cant play some game. I played HL2. I got so bored with it I ended up uninstalling it. Theres more to life than computer games. and when your 19 or 21 (depending if your local drinking age) and you start to notice girls, you'll find your money better spent on a car, and gas money.. and gas money.. and gas money.. and gas money..

Just save your money and then either buy your own computer or upgrade the video card. But if you don't care... well, get over it, then.

The new system is fast...use your own money to add a video card....i see no reason why your parents should pay for your non-productive hobbies.

stupid kids...think the world should hand them everything

Noone owe you sh*t in this world, not even your parents.

Uh, aren't there expansion slots in the gateway?
Buy like another stick of 512 RAM. Buy like a 6800 GT AGP
Problem solved. Game on.
