Silly people....

I have to agree. Spoiled, whiny kids irritate me as much as the next person ;) but I think he had a valid point.

I tried pointing that out a number of posts back....but it was 100%, completely ignored. Quickly buried by "OMG U WHINEY BRAT, BUY UR OWN STUFF, STFU type of posts. The way the OP was written, it sounds like it is a family computer, NOT solely purchased for the OP.

id imagine the warranty and tech support was more important to them when spending their own money for a family computer.

That is far from the point. If they are encouraging their son at all in developing his skills and perhaps career path, the least they could do is discuss it with him and THEN explain why they would rather get another computer, perhaps asking him to help with the specs/configuration at least.

Lots of responses, I wish I could have tended to them quicker. I think all the people who seemingly defended me saw where I was coming from, and those who were quick to insult did not. This is not about whining for a new computer. Those with reading comprehension saw that my sole focus is Track and Field. So the one guy who called me a slob and told me to get off my ass, reading comprehension obviously isn't for you. What the original post was about was the feeling of, I don't know, helplessness. I'm always trying to save money around here, so spoiled? Puh-leez. I reject their attempts to spoil me. Parents just bought a new car, a Jeep...I told them my views about it; Wasteful, unnecessary, unefficient in regards to gas, so it hurts me to see them throw so much money away on this computer. And, by the way, it was more than my reccomended estimate of $1500 for a self-built. Much more. Everytime they had a computer problem, they'd come to me about it. Always. So it doesn't make sense to me why they didn't include me in the selection process. That's what gets to me.

As for the computer itself, I've adjusted. Finally having XP is nice, and the LCD is fine. But I hate the preinstalled crap. Norton, McAfee, AOL!...ugh! I want to disable all of it. All I need is Spybot, Ad-Aware, and AVG, and I'm set. Norton and McAfee, all they do is get in the way. I can't visit CNN because McAfee picks it up as a banned site. So I'll work on getting that disabled. The computer is loud as hell also. That's bad. The tower is super small.

Now I'll address some points made.

Get a Job

I will attempt to, but as for right now, school is in session, and I'm training hard for track. Track season is closing soon, but I'm training in the summer anyway. I have a couple places in mind to work at, so I need my working papers. But if I get the money to build, I'll have nowhere to put it. My room has no room for a computer, and this computer will still be here. So hmm. And I will invest some of the money I make into track, I.E. protein, multivitamins, weights, and spikes.

Get Off Your Ass

Fvck the guys who said this. Read my original post, or see my training schedule, and then tell me to get off my ass. Dumbest comment that can be made, bar none.

Spoiled

To quote the valley girls of the world, "As if!"

I think that sums it up.

Cliffs:

1. Not mad that the computer is crappy, per se, but that I was not made aware in the selection process. I feel as if I am Caesar when he is stabbed by Brutus, but only I say: "Et tu, parents? Salvatore, breath thy last breath." To sum it up, I'm mad about being left out when I'm reigning tech-head in the house.

2. Lazy? Like I said, fvck you.

3. Spoiled? Not at all.

4. Bad points about the computer now that I calmed down: Norton, McAfee, AOL pre-installed. Loud as hell, even louder than the 8 year-old one. Super Small tower.

Reformat your machine or take off all the crap.

Grab a refurb video card off NewEgg your rents may even spring for it. If it doesn't work (some of them don't work) send it to the manufacturer for replacement.

Hang with the track, I'm impressed that you're not a lazy fat ass...
