the conroes use ddr2, but (depending on your socket) so does your beloved 4600+, im choosing between them aswell. For a gaming rig the conroes kick the ass fo the 4600+. cehck out the e6600 benchmarks. Also, there using the same socket as befor, and tehre are already mobos for it. Not a big issue. Oh, im still aamd fan, but, damn, they look nice.

The 4600+ on a socket 939 is still DDR not DDR2, I already know the Intel is better but I can get everything I want out of an AMD 4600 I need to run games using the X1900XT I bought.

wow, i never new the conroe chip did not work with the x1900xt!!! Man, your a idiot. And this forum is pissy on grammer, lol. Anyways, I know the 4600+ on a 939 uses ddr, but, that socket is old, and dieing

Dieing or not my point is I can build a system based on the socket 939 that will do everything I need it to do and use parts I have already. I can run every game out there still using a socket 939 and do it for less money, so to me it makes sense right now. This also gives the Conroe time to mature with potential BIOS issues (if they happen) and I can get it up and running sooner then waiting for everything needed to build based on a Conroe. As for the idiot part I dont see why you felt the need to start insulting me when I havent done the same to you or anyone else. You build your way I will build my way but for crying out loud keep it friendly.

I might go Conroe next summer, but right now I don't feel like replacing every part I have except DVD drives, video and sound cards, and PSU.

I'd probably get a new case as well. I've had this one for 4 or 5 years now. Plus all the old parts would need a home as well :)

Because only at that, and lower resolutions, a faster CPU makes sense. Game at a reasonable resolution and the GPU is the limiting factor, nullifying any performance advantage C2D has - unless you feel like shelling out money for SLI/CF or even quad-SLI (since NV released beta drivers supporting that), then and only then your claim is valid.

OBCT, you grammar nazi

You forgot a period at the end of your last sentence :p .

Yeah, definitely want to try a dual core proc, so will be looking at the cheapest X2. Currently running an overclocked AM2 Sempron 3000+.
