Man the price drops are driving me nuts, I wanna get a 4600+ or something and I just cant wait. This will be my 1st ever AMD build i hope all goes well. Who else is going AMD with ole Gumpy?

Heh I am not building a Conroe, its a gaming rig and a 4600 etc will run fine. I dont wanna deal with buying DDR2 and also dealing with possible BIOS issues that come along with new MOBOS.

Brave statement

the conroes use ddr2, but (depending on your socket) so does your beloved 4600+, im choosing between them aswell. For a gaming rig the conroes kick the ass fo the 4600+. cehck out the e6600 benchmarks. Also, there using the same socket as befor, and tehre are already mobos for it. Not a big issue. Oh, im still aamd fan, but, damn, they look nice.

Gaming rig to play at 800x600? Cant be serious.

I'm totally serios. This is my serios face.

This is the same blind love for AMD that Intel people used to have...even if prices are lower, they still get beaten by Intel @ the same price. Face it: Intel has done right this time.

OBCT, you grammar nazi

The 4600+ on a socket 939 is still DDR not DDR2, I already know the Intel is better but I can get everything I want out of an AMD 4600 I need to run games using the X1900XT I bought.

Cause you assumed I was getting an AM2 not a 939, if I was going to get any platform that uses DDR2 then there wouldnt be a reason not to get a Conroe.

Yeah Monday cant get here fast enough for me, the other thing I am wondering is if the price cuts are effective the same day or if we have to wait for older stock to sell out. Hence why the title IM SOOOOOOOOOOOO antsy. 😀

To me, right now, 939 seems like a quick fix. In another 9 months you'll probably be tired of it.

If thats the case then in 9 months I can build another comp, but lets get real here most of the time games are GPU bound over CPU bound. I am already making a jump from AGP to PCI-E so right there I am making a big boost in performance.

Can someone confirm for me please...The release date for Conroe...
Is it July 23 or July 27 ????

I didn't realize you'd be able to build or upgrade again in 9 months (most can't). If that's how you roll, then 939 makes more sense.

Heh lets hope thats not the case I mean I do enjoy building new comps but rather not if I dont have to. I have been using my P4 2.8 northy for quite some time and even played Oblivion on it.

I'm just looking for it last another year before I decide on a major rebuild. Mine's already fast enough for me in a straight line, but it sucks at multi-tasking. All the sites are saying Monday's when AMD annouces the cuts, but when they will filter down to ZZF and Newegg I don't know.
