I'm taking a trip down to NC for spring break and found a pretty good deal with United. Anyway, I was all excited until I saw that I would be riding in this!

I'm not all about planes anyway, and to see that I'll be flying in this itty-bitty plane with PROPELLERS..that kinda freaks me out.

OK, thanks for letting me complain to you.

millions of flights occur every day..... if they reported every flight that went well you'd feel better

actually, the prop planes aren't that bad at all....used to take them often from tallahassee to orlando, and other than being a lil loud, they're not bad. they fly a lil lower and its usually very smooth. its usually much more laid back than the jets as well, the flight attendants seem to be nicer or something on them

TheBlondOne,

Those are actually fun. You can REALLY feel the turbulence.

Man that plane is huge compared to what you could be riding in... You won't have a bad ride.

And I don't think there are MILLIONS of flights per day... .:)

Whats so bad about a turboprop? It's a JET engine with a geared down prop on it. Instead of using thrust horsepower, it uses shaft horsepower. It's still a jet.

Just think. Terrorist won't waste their time in hijacking a small prop plane to run it into a building. Just hope the pilot isn't some 14 yr old kid that wants to commit suicide.

Have fun on your flight. :)

Have a drink beforehand and wear headphones .....I've flown in those prop planes a number of times and they are really **loud**.

Once you get over the initial nerves they're actually kind of fun.

sarah, i flew on 2 of those the other day and i could swear i was going to die the whole time on both flights. they were the scariest flights of my life. these things are loud as hell and the flights were pretty bumpy not to mention we made these sudden little drops all the time that felt like i was on a rollercoaster, on the first flight we had this drop where half the people on the plane screamed and my cd player went up in the air lol....needless to say you could not pay me enough to get on one of these damn things again, jets only for me from now on.

*edit* they are sort of fun, but also scary as hell, maybe im just a wuss

at least it isn't a cesna. i was on one of those going from Friday Harbor to Seattle, 2 hour flight if i remember correctly. single prop, 6 seater, first time i've ever lost my lunch on a plane. loud and turbulent ;) Dash 8's(i think that's what those are) are usually quite smooth, from what my dad has said

That's a big plane compared to some I've been in. Just last month I was in a little Hawker jet and we flew through thunderstorms in and out of Dallas. I once flew in a smaller turboprop into a storm taking off from South Bend and I was sure I was dead from the way the plane was being thrown around.

They're actually very safe and the pilots are right there with you so they are careful.

TheBlondOne,

Back in my corporate lackey days, I used to do the commuter flight trips two to three times a month on a Beechcraft 99, 19 seater prop. I thought it was a blast. Besides, at that time you could see the pilot and make sure he wasn't up there toking anything.:)

Whoa, why are you going to raleigh for spring break? Most people want to go to Wilmington or Bald Head.
(I was born in Wilmington and I moved to Greensboro about 7 years ago and Bald Head is where I go to the beach :))
