Trillian decided to delete all my logs today and my last backup of them is from several months ago. These logs go back 2 years and there are some I really really want. I've tried PC Inspector File Recovery and EasyRecovery Professional Edition and neither of them were able to recover my logs!!! Is there any recovery program out there that actually works? I got convos with my ex gf that I'd really like to keep along with a lot of other convos!!! Please help! I'm about to take an axe to my compuer! :|:|:|:|:|

if its of dire importance... search on these forums for something about undeleting or restoring lost data... there are programs you can buy which should help.

It was random. Actually I was having a problem connecting to MSN and someone told me to remove all MSN buddies from the buddies.xml file and it would readd my MSN buddies the next time it connected. Well it worked and now I can connect to MSN but I'm thinking that had something to do with it.....

First off, don't make any changes to your drive. You'll need a program like http://www.active-undelete.com/. I use one of their programs to recover a partition. Download their demo and see if it finds your files. If it does, I'd buy the software unless you can find an easier way...

wouldn't it be funny if by d/l that program he in fact erased the sectors where the logs were stored???

If you want to keep your logs, don't rely on Trillian to keep them for you. Save them to a text file elsewhere and back them up on disk. If you really cared about them, you'd have kept an ongoing backup more recent than several months ago.

I formatted my machine, then realized I hadn't backed up my logs. To my surprise when I load it back up, they were all there! I had no idea they were stored server side.

They aren't stored server-side... not sure what you did.

I routinely copy my Trillian files into a backup to save the logs.
