The sapphire 7970 at $300 on newegg right now is very tempting, maybe the reviews for the gtx760 are flaky but most suggest the 7970 is slower at stock versus the gtx760.....was kinda set on a 4gb gtx760 at $270 but the $300 7970 is tempting, biggest issue is my cx500 psu and its 38amps......and hacking my case half to hell to get that 11'' monster in there lol.

7970 would run over a GTX 760.

Huh?

Here is a good conglomeration of 6-10 reviews at 3D Center. The average across the different reviews show the stock 7970 to be 13% faster than the 760 and a 7970Ghz to be 26% faster.

The Sapphire Dual-X 7970 at Newegg right now is an excellent deal. $280 AR, unlocked voltage, great cooler, 3 free games, and only 5% slower at stock than a 7970Ghz edition. I had one of these for a couple months when I was mining and it was a great card.

A 7970 GHz is faster than a GTX 680 in many cases. A GTX 760 is slower than a GTX 670. I think you are confused.

To the OP, watch the temps on that card. They are not known for having a good cooling setup. When running those benchmarks, have Afterburner or something up to monitor the GPU temps.

Come on buddy, you can do better. Don't let a lowly 7950 beat you ;)

FX 8320 4.8GHz+ HD 7970 1230/1700

P10577 <--- Due to CPU/Physics & Combined Score

Graphics Score: 11826

i5-3570L 4.8GHz+ HD 7950 1325/1845

P11144 <--- Intel chips perform better on the physics test

Graphics Score: 11858

Looking at the graphics score your card surpassed my 7970 at a much lower clock by only 32 points lol. Try harder :p

Think it was the gtx770 i got mixed up with and not the gtx760 sorry,i was up till like 2am checking out newegg, checking reviews between the 7950,7970 and the gtx760 and gtx770....in the market for a new card this evening and its been fun and exhausting but finally settled on my choice.

Check to see if the V.me promo code still works. It takes 10% off up to $30, but you have to checkout using V.me. If that doesn't work, Newegg usually have promos like $25 off $250. Saw the 25 off 250 twice earlier this month.

They shut off the Vme for any promo items with the videocards. If you add a filler you get this error now.

"The promo code vme20bts requires a minimum purchase amount of eligible items before it can be redeemed."

Newegg is getting smart.

I bought a Sapphire 7950 + 3 game codes for $180 AR with the V.me code about a week and a half ago ^_^.

Beaten :p still at a lower clock

FX 8320 4.6GHz + HD 7970 @1250/1850

Graphics Score: 12121

Now that's what I am talking about  Goes to show the 7970 is about 75-100Mhz faster than the 7950 clock for clock.

Yeah Durvelle bought Elfear's third 7970. Looks to be a pretty killer card.

I sold my 10 year old Sony FW900 @ 2304x1440 @ 80Hz for 40 bucks. BUt it had issues it could die at any moment and I told the guy that. Who knows now if thats still working or not. going from 2304x1440 @ 80hz ,,,,, However what I have now is closest to a CRT like feel in FPS games.. no laggy mouse when vsync on , no 60hz,, I made custom res changed to 70hz and mon took it. It says in the mon settings its @ 70hz . I tried this on my friends old LG 2ms but it didnt work. my eyes def hurt much less.
