I remember all the times other parents that I know that wish their baby's sickness would transfer into them even if it were a million times worse..I can imagine how you feel.
If it's just congestion (cold/flu/runny nose ect.), try taking a shower with her. The warm steam does a good job of breaking up the congestion and they'll usually do alot better for awhile; always worked w/our kids.
(And yes, the "door" is open for making comments about showering with the girls, but lets keep this one clean eh <no pun intended> )
Hang in there... I hope she gets well soon. The shower/steam is good advice... you might want to keep a humidifier going in her room, too. I would put a wedge under the mattress so that my children would have their heads slightly up... better for mucus drainage. I would also just hold them while they were napping... keeping the head up and mucus draining properly is helpful.
This is one of the many reasons I am a SAHM for my kids... the Mister needs his sleep so he can function well at work, so I am nurse on duty 24/7. I just go into crisis mode when the kids are sick... usually by the end of it, I look pretty scary... Still, they hardly ever have to go to the doctor... the trick is to keep a cold/virus into turning into something more serious.
Thanks guys! My wife is taking her to the Doctor to get checked right now. She was coughing alot through the night but at least she got some sleep. We also used a vaporizer for her last night and let her sleep with us.
Hey Muffstah - I know the feeling as my little one (2 yr old)is sick right now too! She started a fever last night and then threw up all over Elita and the porch. She's not puking right now, but still is running the fever and is quite unhappy. Elita is going to take her to to doctor this afternoon.
with kids under 2, the doctor should be a common occurrance. There are a couple bugs that can move from flu to something much worse in a matter of hours, and if you miss it the children can really be in trouble. More then likely it's just a cold/flu, but that doesn't change the fact that she's miserable which makes you miserable also.
alwasy said the best form of birth control,.................is having a child :Q
hope your baby gets well soon
and take the proper precautions
my friend recently took her baby to see a doctor because she was always getting sick
they diagnosed her baby with RSV
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in Children
RSV causes infections of the upper respiratory tract (like a cold) and the lower respiratory tract (like pneumonia). It is the most frequent cause of lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, in infants and children under 2 years of age.
Almost 100 percent of children in child care get RSV in the first year of their life, usually during outbreaks during the winter months. In most children, symptoms appear similar to a mild cold. About half of the infections result in lower respiratory tract infections and otitis media. An RSV infection can range from very mild to life-threatening or even fatal. Children with heart or lung disease and weak immune systems are at increased risk of developing severe infection and complications. RSV causes repeated symptomatic infections throughout life.
