I'm sitting and I can't get up!

I seem to have pulled a muscle or done something in my lower back. It is at the point today that I am having a lot of trouble just standing up from my office chair, and the next 20 steps are pure agony. If I keep walking it seems to get better, but as soon as I sit again for 5 minutes it seizes up again.

Any recommendations for OTC drugs to combat what seem to be muscle spasms? Tylenol hasn't done a thing for me.

Hopefully it's a muscle and not the spine. Mine's the L5. When it's acting up, the only true relief I get is laying on the coffee table with my legs/hips over the edge. Takes the pressure off the nerve.

How is it going? You need anesthetic. It might help for some time.

Ya, some propofol sounds like a good idea about now. I was out and about walking a job site for two hours and I was fine. Now I've been sitting in the office again for half an hour and by back hurts like H E double hockey sticks.

It could be a pinched nerve. Have you had this problem before or is this the first time?

Don't you want to visit a doctor?neurologist? That can be problems with your nerves or something more serious. I have intervertebral hernia and I must say it is very serious and painful. And sitting work does not play a good role here, you know.

Why would anybody want to visit an educated professional when you can get the pulled-out-of-the-ass opinions of internet strangers?

:hmm:

triple strength ibuprofen. Ibuprofen really kicks in as an anti-inflammatory at the higher dosage. If your doctor prescribes you some, you get it as a single horse pill. Have fun swallowing!

Not OTC, but Baclofen is a great anti-spastic that knocks out back pain for me.

I had a very similar thing a few weeks back, except it never got better while walking. I went to my Doctor and got a VERY strong anti inflammatory, a VERY strong muscle relaxer and a bucket of percocets. All was good a short while after that.

I think Oxycodone should be over the counter. Druggies are going to kill themselves anyways, so who cares if they abuse it.

All the major OTC medicines don't really help for moderate and above pain.
