Yes we have a big payroll, but the reality is, Steinbrenner uses some of his cash to bring in players for the benefit of us, the fans. Other owners have the same opportunity to do so, but they'd rather make a big profit out of their teams, instead of investing more into it.
I personally hate the Boston Red Sox and the comment made by their owner John Henry about "we need a salary cap" after he couldn't snag A-Rod is just childish and stupid.
People are nitpicking the Yanks but honestly, they will be at the top. No they haven't won the world series yet but I seriously think this is our year to shine. Yes you can start nitpicking our batters, our pitchers especially, but they'll pull through. If you think about it, Boston's pitching staff isn't that great either. Pedro can't pitch more than 160 innings. Curt Schilling might break down any time soon just like Kevin Brown. Derek Lowe is really overrated as a starter. Tim Wakefield has his up and downs. Byung Hyun Kim's submarine delivery is open bait for all leftys.
