Just tell her there is going to be poison meat in your trash from now on and if she wants to keep her cats alive she better figure out a way to keep them out of your trash.

But don't actually put poisoned meat in your trash, obviously. Because it only takes one over-zealous attorney to create hell on earth for you.

Even with an attorney it would be difficult to prove that poisoned meat in your trash caused her harm, afterall meat could become poisended easily just by the mixing that occurs in trash cans.

But as I didn't actually say to put the poisoned food in the trash, just tell you are going to. The fear alone should motivate her to take action if she cares about her cats.

Yeah, I know. If you're going to really poison it you wouldn't tell her -- just do it.

nice bowl of anti-freeze for them

I agree with this one too, but not against a dog.

DO NOT KILL ANIMALS WITH ANTIFREEZE. It's a hell of a way to die, it involves puking blood and an extended period of suffering. If you are going to kill them get something like rat poison (bleeding to death, fairly painless) or use a firearm. There is NO reason to use antifreeze and cause the animal to suffer tremendously.

Try using a bungee cord to keep the lid on your can. You can bungee it to a post too, to keep it from being easily tipped over. Not that I think the owner is right, but this would be a cheap first step.

I completely agree. I have absolutely no problem exterminating problem animals even if they are domestic cats or dogs but I would never want ANY animal to suffer for any reason. A quick death is fine and unfortunately necessary when you live in an age with so many irresponsible pet owners.

That's why I would never do that to a dog. Cats aren't animals, they are pests, just like rats are.

Don't be stupid, it's a pet regardless of how you view the animal. Someone loves and cares about it and just because you don't like it doesn't give you the right to sentence it to a painful death. If you truely think it's ok to do that, I hope someday someone that hates dogs does it to your dog so you understand the pain it causes. :|

They may think they love their pets but they definitely are not takeing CARE of them by letting them run free to be a nuisance to others. Irresponsible pet owners are selfish lazy people and anything that happens to their pet when running the neighborhood is THEIR fault....period. If your animal is a constant nuiscance to me on MY property and you choose to do nothing about it I will certainly take care of the problem by making sure you don't have the opportunity ot love and care for that animal anymore.

I didn't think of that. A dremel tool will make quick holes for that.

I'll give it a try.

To all others, I'm not killing anything.

get a dog. If you don't want to do that, I hear there are some chemicals you can spray on stuff to keep cats/rodents out of your yard. It's totally safe, but just annoys the cats so they don't stick around.

I'd be looking at chemicals that were not safe for cats.

Heh, same here.
