I have to ship a laptop to my wife. I can fit it perfectly in a flat rate box. I asked about shipping overseas (china). He told me like this "When it's in the US it's ok, but you know when it's out of this country and they see US and laptop there like woooooo and rip that shit open". I want to lie and put something else like "fruitcake" or "paper". how do they know what's inside????

The rest of the world is not full of toothless amputees with eye patches and switchblades waiting to steal from Americans. Label it correctly.

Sure you can lie, as long as you are willing to suffer the consequences if your lie is discovered.

How about 'soiled underpants'? or will that just attract more attention?

You are shipping it to CHINA?..

Good luck with that, no matter what you put on the box they can see it?s from the US and can rip it open and molest it. My friend interned in china for 3 months for a company. His family sent him a care package with some socks, little books, candies and what not nothing expensive. The sent it to him the week he left.

He didn?t get it till the week he was going to come back home. It took 2.8 months to get to him?. He could tell the package was opened so he didn?t eat any of the edible stuff. But still if they wanted to open a box that had such little value items in it?

Pretty much use a company that can get it from point A to point B without any Chinese customs and delays. It will be well worth the extra cost.

If you use EMS it goes through customs a lot easier than just the standard postal service. Going with a carrier such as UPS or Fedex will help with guaranteeing delivery dates.

USPS Express Mail. That's the only thing I use shipping overseas for packages.

I always shipped DHL overseas and my stuff always made it there fine. I've heard good things about FedEX and BAD things about UPS but have no personal experience with either so take it with a grain of salt.

I shipped electronics (2 DS, A Wii, an Ipod, a laptop, lots of games, accessories) and it always made it there intact, I shipped colognes, jewelry, clothing, alcohol back and forth a LOT of times, even a wad of Euros once. Everything always made it there just fine. You're going to pay out the ass to ship.

I always undervalued stuff and generally paid around $500-750 incl. customs to get 25 lbs of freight to South America or eastern Europe. You're cooked if you send it in a flat rate box.

They usually open things up and check. They opened an Amazon 1" thick, light box once with a book inside. Guess it could have held some drugs?

Would "Note book" and "Manual" do? You're not technically lying... the spelling of the first term makes it a totally different animal... and I suppose you ARE also sending the manual?

Fedex has special boxes they carry, that are just for laptop computers. Suggest you get one of those, for better protection.

Also, is there any problems with shipping computers overseas? I know there's been times in the past, when I've bought stuff that required you state (usually by checking a box next to the statement) that you wouldn't buy that item, then ship it overseas. Damned if I can remember what it was, but I do remember doing that.

The problem is that it's costing 205 with DHL or USP just to ship 20.00 lbs. That is a laptop and a couple of toy cameras for my daughter. That's insane considering I bought this $275 1.5 gig dell laptop and that fisher price toy camera is like 60 something. WTF....
