I currently work for a regional public accounting firm, and I wanted out of this firm for various reasons. I've been applying to several different positions, including one of the largest public accounting firms in the country. That is the job I wanted most.

I interviewed with them on Wednesday, and later that evening, I sent a thank you email to the two senior managers, and the partner that interviewed me. I personally got an email back this morning from the partner saying that I will hear from them soon. One of the internal recruiters just called me and offered me a position.

The salary is a lot more than what I make now, and they're also giving me a sign-on bonus.

This made my weekend! I know that the work will be harder and the hours will be longer since it's a much bigger firm, but to have it on my resume and to be a part of the company will do wonders for my career.

I had to tell someone. I dont want to tell me coworkers, and my girlfriend is at work.

Nope, it's downtown Baltimore, 30 minutes away.

How much further than your current job?

Well done with that though!

Good work. Career advancement is great, especially when it's more $$ instead of just added responsibility.

Maybe 5 miles farther. My current job is in Baltimore, but the new job is downtown near the harbor.

I was in your same shoes a week ago, except mine is my first full-time job out of school so it's like a 3x salary jump. Gotta love that feeling.

Congrats!

If you were paid paid OT at your old firm the salary difference may not be as much as the Big 4 dod not pay OT.

Big 4 is a great resume builder. Best of luck on the SEC work.

Congrats KK! So is it a Big 4? BDO? GT?

I want to get into public accounting as well. After I pass BEC and FAR shortly, I am going to go all out and apply for the positions. Four years of corp accounting is killing me.
