Im sending my phone in today for repair so i had to install Apple's firmware on it
Figured sending in a pimped out jailbroken phone in wouldnt be a good idea but when i restore the phone i keep getting a numeric battery next to the battery logo is this normal? i thought it was only for jailbroken phones?

just want to be sure its not restoring the phone with a jailbroken firmware

thanks for any assistance

Yes it does .. but there have been cases where if the phone had been jailbroken that the setting that controlled the visibility no longer toggled it correctly

settings -> general -> usage -> battery percentage ..

toggle it and see what happens.

If I remember correctly, the 3GS does have a numeric indicator, while the 3G doesn't. When I had my 3G jailbroken and then restored it, the numeric indicator stuck around. When 3.0 came out I completely wiped it and that took care of it.

Please let us know how it goes.

I've been told by a friend that even if you JB and restore, Apple can still find out if it has been jailbroken. I don't know if that was reliable info or not.

The reason I'm concerned is that I've been wanting to buy the extended warranty for $80 since I'm starting to see battery life decline after a few months. I'm sure it'll lose a significant charge (probably 50% or more) before the extended warranty is over. If it does, and if they see it was jailbroken, chances are they won't honor the warranty. So I'm interested to know how it goes for you when you send in your restored JB phone.
