I'm selling the Bus on ebay

She looks very clean , but I'm not into late-model baywindows.

Old aircooled VW's are so expensive nowadays anyway. I saw a beat-up '69 Bug the other day (in a parking lot) with a "For Sale" sign asking $4,500.

yeah, I've had post-it notes left under the windshield wipers for 2 grand. I have been stubborn and just kept it. hopefully I will make that much on ebay...

can you put 4x8 wallboard in the back, and close the doors?

Will it go 75 mph on the highway, and 65 up a steep grade?

Sure, you just have to put the wallboard in throught the side door.

As for those speeds, there are a couple of different ways.
One way would be to build up the stock engine to about 180 hp. Costs are reasonable, even with a complete engine rebuild with high-compression pistons and a lumpy cam, plus clutch, large dual carbs, and free-flowing exhaust. Only a couple thousand. Drawback is noise, emissions, gas mileage, and reliability (cooling a high-powered aircooled is a bitch).
The hip new way is to drop in a Subaru motor, preferably a WRX turbo. More expensive, but much quieter, more reliable, and even faster. There's a guy down at my local track who runs consistent mid-14's @ high-90's in a Vanagon with a WRX motor. That's pimpin'.

Thanks,

Like I say I have wondered,as most micro buses,i see on the road,
I have passed with my Chevy full size van.Especially if there is a steep hill.

I have to go up a steep hill every day,on the way to work,
I am going about 45-50 at the bottom, and 60ish at the top.
Speed limit is 55mph,but the locals go 60-70 usually.

I guess that a snowmobile prob would not go in the side door too easy. 🙁

How is the stock 60hp?? on fuel mileage.

if my brother wasnt such a good hippie that he was already broke, im sure hed love it. hes wanted a van for a long time but is working on his bug right now (i forget which year it is)

My dad used to have one of those VW buses. It could only manage about 15 MPH going uphill although I do remember him outrunning the police once. 😉

I assume the Police were on foot? 😛

🙁 If I didn't already have two aircooleds and a project mustang AND if I wasn't going to basic training next month I'd totally buy it from you! 😛
