Was busy at work today, approached a workstation, went to sit down,as I did somebody up the hall called out to me,I turned by twistung a bit at the waist,as I sat down, the minute I sat in the chair the hydralics went on it,slamming me hard about 4 ft into the floor..carpet over concrete

went to get up..legs wouldn't move..

spent the day in the ER,my back is toast now..

oh and before anybody makes wiseazz comments, come to find out though the chairs were leather and looked expensive, the manager had been informmed a couple weeks ago that the hydrolics on at least one chair were defective.

Holy crap, sorry to hear that! :( I hope it isn't too serious.

Never had anything quite like that happen to me, closest was when I was at Maetryx's house one time and sat in one of THESE. Upon trying to scoot back from the table I was sitting at, the back legs didn't slide, but caught and bent under the chair. They snapped off and the whole thing went crashing down with me in it.

Getting older is only fun for the bank account.

"My friends are gone and my hair is grey.
I ache in the places where I used to play.
And I'm crazy for love but I'm not coming on.
I'm just paying my rent every day in the tower of song."

Hopefully your back is just resting, or pinin' for the fjords, and not an ex-parrot.

So how'd it happen again. I can't understand if you fell out of the chair, or if the chair just went down.

Two years ago I herniated a disk in my back. Spent thirty days in bed and live with back pain everyday now. I hope your injury is not as bad.

We actually had a similar situation as a work comp claim a few weeks ago.

Hope you get better soon :(

How can hydrolics on a chair slam you into the ground? Doesn't make sense.

Why are you telling us? You should get Larry H. Parker on the phone and see if you have any rights under worker's comp rules.

I hope they were polite at the ER and doped your ass into next week.

When we get new onset back pains like you in our ER we generally make them for lack of better term, high on meds.

Example being one young man hurt his back at work and got 30mg of Flexeril, 1mg of Dilaudid, 2 Norco(vicodin but with less tylenol) and 10mg of Valium. Hope they at least gave you some narcotics in the ER.

Hope you are doing better though!

I remember my younger sister falling down on her tailbone once and going to the ER for it. Serious stuff. Hope it works out all good for you.

Sorry to hear it Geekbabe. Hope you feel better soon.

Just remember, there's a series of steps to be taken immediately:

#1. Lawyer
#2. Neck brace
#3. News Conference while wearing neck brace

Don Vito takes these kinds of case, you should give him a holler :)

I fell on my tailbone once. It was the worst pain i've ever had in my life. I didn't go to the ER or anything, but I am assuming I bruised it. It took close to 2 months for all the pain to go away.

:( :( :(

I once was jumping on a trampoline, bounced REALLY high, and landed straight down on my head. I felt my neck vertabrea separate and then pop back into place. My friends thought I had killed myself.

I was fine, but for a good while after that (for about a month) every time I ran or bounced up and down I felt the structural integrity along my spine and chest area go to hell. It felt like my ribcage was literally going to separate from my spine.

Hopefully your accident heals for you as mine healed for me.

Hey, at least you didn't lose use of your legs. When I was in middle school, there was a huuuuge crackdown on people rocking back in their chairs. One kid fell over backwards and snapped his spine, paralyzing himself from waist down.
