Ok, so this girl at my work, who everyone unanimously hates working with, has taken off 27 days this year, is it too much to ask that she be fired?

I want to fire her, but my boss says I cant, because her dad is wealthy and popular(just a guess), but he also wont let me hire anyone else, so tonight I got my balls busted from so many customers because of wait time, we were two employees short because the other guy I sent home after he threw up on our counter. I work at a pharmacy btw.

Am I pushing it since Vie only been her boss for 4 months? I feel that once I was given eh promotion it should be up to me, as long as I work her hours until I replace her, but I?m only 17 so I have to get an ok from uppers before firing someone.

Saturday Edit

I worked from 6-1 today and she was supposed to work from 8-3, she didn?t show up, but she did get another lady to come in for her, however the lady that came in to work for her was not trained to do the jobs that needed to be done, so a sent her replacement home and wrote her up for being absent without contacting us.

I also cut her pay from $7.50 and hour to minimum wage, and I?m am working on cutting her down to 5 hrs a week, then I will hire another employee, I don?t care what Chris(My manager) says, payroll going out will be the same. I'm also documenting any and everything she does wrong.

Anything else I should do?

I've probably taken off that much this year already. I have extenuating circumstances, and she might too.

Shes in Highschool, plays sports and is in a drama club, Shes just a spoiled bratt thats all.

if you cant fire her, and your boss wont, speak to his boss and keep going up the chain until you can find out whats up.
I couldnt see how anyone would just not fire a person cause their daddy is rich...if they have that little a backbone they need to be cut too...

Well you left some pretty important info out of your OP. 😉

Well, if you can't hire anyone else, you're kind of stuck. Just document all of her time off and infractions, anything she does that impacts customers negatively, and present the info to your boss after you have a reasonable file on her. That, and the fact that HS student employees are dime a dozen should hopefully change his mind...

Not because hes wealthy, because he is popular, the store manger knows him, so does teh owner, its a town of about 10,000 people, he owns sooo much income property its not even funny. Her work ethis sucks, I think she should be gone.

It shouldn't matter, wealthy dad or not.

Unloyal employee, she's gotta go.

She thinks she can walk around with out her sh!t stinking, and you will show her the stench.

Just set her up. Not only will you get your store back under control, but you'll also get a large amount of satisfaction watching her being stuffed in the back of the police car and hauled off to jail for stealing all that store merchandise and the drugs they found in her purse. And if that's not enough, you can file harrassment charges against her for that time she grabbed your package in the storeroom 🙂

My mom has enough sick days to take off for 100days+ with pay and without being fired

WTFBBQ, most companies limit the amount of paid time off you can accrue.

If I were in that spot, and set up with Direct Deposit, I'd be taking a 1/3rd year vacation and knocking off a HUGE portion of the "list of places to travel to"

It sounds like it isn't a real job for her. I get the impression since everyone knows everyone that they are just supporting her efforts as she grows up in high school by providing her with some work experience. It isn't for the money. She probably doesn't need it. And it isn't because the store needs her. She's probably factored in as just extra help whenever she shows up. While you might see her on the schedule, management is aware she's not likely to be there. Being a small town, this is not unusual. She is not taking anyone else's job and it's probably not the first time the store has done this for someone. I assume you work for the money and would like to keep the job. Just be grateful when she shows up honestly. This isn't going to change because it's not a real "job" situation for her. More like extracarricular activities. She's lucky. Don't resent it. When she's not there, the staff on duty is probably just what mgmt wants.
Is her name Bush, by chance? 😉 jk, I like Georgie.

Your right about it not being a real job for her, but she isnt "Extra" help, we need a person there, I would be fine with keeping her if I could hire another person to work, then she woud just be extra.
